Séamus Power moved inside the top 125 on the FedEx Cup standings with a tied-eighth finish at the John Deere Classic - his third consecutive top-10.

The Waterford man currently sits in 123rd position with the top 125 after next month’s Wyndham Championship securing their PGA Tour card for next season.

Power has been in remarkably consistent form lately and maintained that run with a closing 66 at TPC Deere Run to finish at 15 under par, four shots behind eventual winner Lucas Glover.

Power picked up birdies on the second and fourth to move onto the fringes of contention on Sunday before dropping back with a bogey at the ninth. However, he rallied to an impressive back nine with birdies at the 11th, 12th, 14th and 15th to come home in 32 and sign for a 66.

The 34-year-old now heads for this week’s Barbasol Championship - the opposite field event on the PGA Tour to the British Open.

At the top of the leaderboard, Glover stormed home with five birdies in his final seven holes to claim victory.

The American rebounded from a lacklustre 70 on Saturday as he carded a seven-under 64 en route to a two-shot victory.

Glover opened with back-to-back birdies to commence his run up the leaderboard, picking up another shot on the eighth to head into the turn at three under.

Despite bogeying the par-four 11th, his late string of birdies ultimately proved enough to clinch his first PGA title in 10 years.
