Cork defeat Limerick in Munster minor hurling championship

Cork came from seven points down to register an emphatic victory over the holders Limerick in the first round of the Munster Minor Hurling Championship before a crowd of 3,222 at Páirc Uí Rinn last evening.

Limerick led by 1-9 to 1-6 at the interval after making a blistering opening. Seamus Flanagan showed his threat by smashing in a super goal after 11 minutes, when he caught Darragh Carroll's sideline cut and gave keeper Declan Dalton no chance.

Barry Murphy was also posing problems for the Cork defence as Limerick jumped 1-9 to 0-5 in front approaching the break, but Cork grabbed a much-needed goal in the 29th minute.

Limerick goalkeeper and captain Eoghan McNamara made two superb saves only for Tim O'Mahony to eventually beat him. Captain Shane Kingston pointed to offer Cork more hope.

Cork dominated the second-half with Kingston inspirational, scoring the second goal after 44 minutes for a 2-12 to 1-10 lead and they drove on from there.
