A nine point haul from Tomás Quinn proved pivotal as St Vincent’s defeated Ballymun Kickhams by 0-19 to 0-13 in their Dublin SFC 2nd round clash at Parnell Park on Saturday teatime.
The holders enjoyed a 0-9 to 0-4 lead before Kickhams replied in kind with scores by Karl Connolly, Jason Whelan, James Burke and Dean Rock trimming their arrears to just a point by the break.
An excellent John Small score levelled matters soon after but St Vincent's assumed complete control from that juncture with Kevin Golden, Quinn, Cameron Diamond and Nathan Mullins kicking fine points to ease the Marino home.
Their reward is a quarter-final clash against Lucan Sarsfields, who eased past 14-man St Patrick’s Palmerstown by 4-15 to 0-7 at O’Toole Park.
Brendan Gallagher struck 2-5 for the winners who confirmed their win through added goals by Declan O’Shaughnessy and Brian Collopy.
Later that afternoon, Kevin McManamon fired eight points when helping St Jude’s to enjoy a deserved 0-13 to 0-9 win over St Brigid’s.
Jude's led by 0-9 to 0-4 at the break thanks to points by McManamon, Tom Lahiff, Ronan Joyce, Paul Cunningham and Paul Maguire and despite seven points shared by Paddy Andrews and Philly Ryan, St Brigid's were undone with the late dismissals of Barry Cahill and John O'Loughlin sealing their fate.
