The GAA will make an announcement in the next two days regarding the disappearance of approximately 1,000 tickets for last Sunday's All-Ireland hurling final. Yesterday the Cork and Galway county boards confirmed that every ticket they received was distributed to the public.
It appears an administrative error occurred as rows of the Cusack and Hogan stands were empty with the official attendance of 81,130 falling short of the full capacity of 82,300.
"Everything we received was distributed around the county," confirmed Galway County Board secretary Bernie O'Connor. Galway received their tickets by train directly to the fast-track office in the city centre.
Cork chairman Jim Forbes said: "We got all our tickets sent down to Cork and distributed them correctly."
The ticket office in Croke Park is not involved in the ticket arrangements for the football and hurling All-Ireland finals as these games are handled by the office of director general Liam Mulvihill.
Meanwhile, the Mark Vaughan eligibility case comes back in front of the Dispute Resolution Authority tomorrow evening at 7pm. Kilmacud Crokes refused the offer of a replay from St Brigid's, without Vaughan, after the Leinster Council decision to disqualify them from the Dublin championship was upheld by the Central Appeals Committee.
Tyrone, ahead of their clash against Kerry in the All-Ireland football final on September 25th, will hold an open night for their supporters in the St Colmcilles club in Carrickmore tomorrow evening.
