SLIGO ROVERS are likely to benefit from the decision by UEFA to ban Greek clubs from competition for the foreseeable future with the Irish side now appearing to have only two home and one away match to play in their Inter Toto Cup programme over June and July.

The Irish side kick off their campaign on the weekend of June 22nd with the visit of Heerenveen to the Showgrounds before visiting Lillestrom the following week although at this stage the Norwegians have yet to officially confirm who their entry in the competition will be.

On the third weekend of the competition, July 6th-7th, Sligo welcome French side Nantes who only lost out at the semi final stages of this season's Champions League to eventual winners, Juventus, while their fourth group match was scheduled to be in Greece where Crete were likely to have provided the opposition before the confirmation of the UEFA action.

The club have, meanwhile, managed to re-sign nine of last year's first team squad despite the attentions of Irish League sides aiming to capitalise on the new Bosman inspired transfer rules.

Gavin Dykes has gone to Derry, however, and Coleraine have signed Andy Ramage.
