Two gold medals for Ireland at U-22 European Boxing Championships

Lisa O’Rourke and Niamh Fay victorious in Croatia while Aoibhe Carabine earns silver

Ireland’s Lisa O’Rourke and Niamh Fay won gold medals at the Under-22 European Boxing Championships in Croatia on Tuesday.

Light middleweight O'Rourke, who also plays football for Roscommon, beat Daria Parada of Poland on a split decision in Porec.

Fay became the 54kg champion after defeating Italy's Sharon Prisco in a unanimous decision.

Middleweight Aoibhe Carabine secured a silver medal after losing the final to Ukrainian Karolina Makhno.

The team will leave Croatia with seven medals after Kaci Rock, Dylan Eagleson and Paul Loonam earned bronze medals on Monday, while heavyweight Jack Marley will fight for gold on Wednesday.
