You know you really can't believe everything you read in print anymore, let alone everything you see. Take two examples - albeit accidental - that failed to sneak past the diligent Irish Times staff this week.
Firstly, there was a report in Tuesday's Daily Telegraph about Keith Wood cautioning Brian O'Driscoll against making an early decision to move into the English league next season. In concluding, the report stated that Wood himself was likely to return to Harlequins next season under a deal with the club which had allowed him to rejoin his old team-mate Gary Owen (still going strong after all those years at Manchester City evidently!) for a year. Goes to show, you can't be too careful when it comes to reporting Irish news in English papers.
Also spotted was the recently revised biography of Charlie Swan, titled Champion Charlie, which despite being a detailed and insightful account of the jockey's career, actually contains the front cover photograph (below) of Paul Carberry winning last year's Grand National on Bobbyjo. Mainstream Publishing admitted that the error was caused by mixed up information with the photo agency involved. Hmm . . .
