Six-year-old boy dies after being hit by car in Co Kilkenny

Gardaí appealing for witnesses to incident in housing estate at Lintown Hall

A six-year-old boy was killed in Co Kilkenny today when he was struck by a car in a housing estate.

Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating the incident which occurred at Lintown Grove, Lintown Hall, a housing estate on the outskirts of Kilkenny city.

The collision occurred at approximately 6.30pm. The boy was taken to St Luke’s hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem is due to take place tomorrow. The driver, a woman in her forties, was the sole occupant of the car and was uninjured in the collision.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination.
