UTV Ireland has confirmed Pat Kenny's talk show In the Round has been axed – but the channel said it is looking forward to working on new projects with the presenter.

The Monday evening prime time show featuring Kenny interviewing a single guest was recorded in front of a live audience in the Round Room of Dublin’s Mansion House and was first broadcast on UTV Ireland in March and ran for five weeks.

Among the guests interviewed were Tyrone manager Mickey Harte and singer Daniel O'Donnell and his wife Majella. It had an average audience of 150,000 over its run with almost 170,000 tuning in to see the final episode, which featured the O'Donnells.

In a statement on its decision not to recommission the show, UTV said little more than it was “discussing future projects” with Kenny.
