A man in his 20s has been killed in a single car crash in Drogheda, Co Louth on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Carstown Road, Drogheda shortly before 11pm when a car left the road and struck a tree. The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 29-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garda forensic collision investigators are examining the scene.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward, including road users who were travelling in the Ballymackenny Road and Carstown Road areas at the time of the collision who may have video footage, including dash cam.
