Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority have begun separate investigations following the death of an agricultural contractor in a farm accident in Co Cork on Wednesday evening.
It is understood the 51-year-old man from Ballyporeen in Co Tipperary was spreading slurry on a farm at Glenville in north Cork when his tractor overturned and he was trapped around 5pm.
The emergency services were alerted and attended to the casualty and he was pronounced dead at the scene before his body was removed to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem.
Gardai said that they were treating the man’s death as “a tragic accident” and would now prepare a file on the incident for an inquest at North Cork Coroner’s Court later this year.
The Health and Safety Authority were also made aware of the death and inspectors from the agency have begun their own separate investigation.
