Two people are recovering in hospital following separate incidents in north Clare on Friday.
A man in his 50s was airlifted to hospital after he was injured in a farm incident. The man is understood to have suffered a fall on the farm near Liscannor.
The alarm was raised at about 4.30pm, when emergency services were alerted.
An ambulance and rapid response advanced paramedic unit responded. After assessing the injured man, paramedics decided he should be airlifted to hospital.
The National Aeromedical Co-ordination Centre was requested to provide an air ambulance. The Emergency Aeromedical Service air ambulance, based in Athlone and operated by the Air Corps in support of the HSE's National Ambulance Service, was requested to undertake the airlift.
The injured man was then airlifted to University Hospital Galway.
Cliff walk
Meanwhile, a woman is also recovering in hospital after a fall on a cliff walk.
The woman had been taking the trail between Doolin and Hags Head when she lost her footing north of O'Brien's Tower at the Cliffs of Moher.
The Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard was requested to assist with recovering the casualty, who was in an area inaccessible by road vehicles.
After being located, she was taken to the Cliffs of Moher visitor centre where an ambulance crew was waiting.
She was then taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment for a leg injury.
Just last month, concern was expressed about the number of people sustaining injuries on the popular cliff trail.
Since last December there have been at least seven incidents in which Doolin Coast Guard was called out to recover people injured in falls. In two cases, the casualties had to be airlifted to hospital.
Appropriate footwear
Rural recreation officer for Co Clare, Eoin Hogan, said: “It is very important that users of the trail wear appropriate footwear - and we highlight this at all the access points to the trail. We can only advise walkers, at the end of the day it is their responsibility to ensure that they have equipped correctly for the trail and that they have assessed the weather conditions.”
