Body of missing fisherman found on Co Galway shore

The body of a fisherman who was reported missing on Wednesday night has been found in Co Galway.

The alarm was raised late on Wednesday night after the fisherman failed to return to shore.

A search team co-ordinated by the Valentia Rescue Centre saw members of the gardaí, the coast guard, the RNLI and rescue helicopters from Shannon and Sligo look for the missing man.

An unmanned boat was located overnight and was towed back to Galway by the Aran Island Lifeboat.

The body was later found on the shore of Oranmore Bay, east of where the boat was found.
