Tip-off on suspicious car leads gardai to heroin find

Gardai found €140,000 worth of heroin after receiving a phone call about a suspicious looking car parked in a Dublin street.

When officers approached the vehicle they noticed the boot had been left open and two packages were left lying on the spare tyre.

The discovery was made by gardai at Mountjoy Garda station at Portland Street North on Monday.

Having confirmed the suspicious packages contained what appeared to be a controlled substance, the vehicle was impounded. The substance was later identified as heroin.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen individuals acting suspiciously around this car, a green Ford Focus, between 11.30am and 1pm on January 4th to contact them in Mountjoy station at (01) 666 8600, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any other station.
