Six men and one woman charged with murder of Dale Creighton

Man (20) died from injuries following New Year’s Day attack in Dublin

Six men and one woman, including a brother and sister, have been charged with the murder of Dale Creighton on a footbridge in Tallaght on New Year's Day.

Another man has been charged with assault causing harm.

Aishling Burke, (20), Bolbrook Grove, Tallaght; her brother David Burke, (25), Village Square, Tallaght; Jason Beresford, (20), Avonbeg Gardens, Tallaght; Ross Callery (20)Westpark Estate, Tallaght; Graham Palmer, (24), Homelawn Road, Tallaght: James Reid, (23), Homelawn Road, Tallaght; and Gerard Stevens, St Dominic’s Terrace, Tallaght, were charged with the murder and remanded in custody by judge Denis McLoughlin this morning in Tallaght District Court.

Dale Creighton died after being assaulted at the footbridge at St Dominic’s Road, Tallaght, on January 1st, 2014.

Mr and Ms Burke, Mr Callery, Mr Callery, Mr Parker and Mr Stevens had been previously charged with violent disorder at the footbridge on the above date.

Mr Reid had previously been charged with producing a knife during the course of a dispute at the footbridge on the above date.

All seven had been previously charged with violent disorder at the footbridge on the above date.

James O’Brien, (21), Avonbeg Drive, Tallaght, was this morning charged with assaulting Mr Creighton causing him harm at the footbridge on January 1 last.

Mr O’Brien had previously been charged with violent disorder at the footbridge on the above date.

Gardai gave details of arresting the accused at addresses in Dublin, Kildare, Dundalk and Wexford this morning.

The court heard that the accused were taken to Tallaght and Rathfarnham Garda stations where they were charged.

A solicitor for the Director of Public Prosecutions recommended trial on indictment in the Central Criminal Court.

The eight accused were remanded in custody until June 18th.
