A male pedestrian has been killed after he was struck by a Luas tram shortly before midnight on Monday.

The collision took place at 11:55pm on Monday, at the Kingswood area in south-west Dublin, along the Luas Red Line.

On Tuesday morning gardaí confirmed an unidentified man had been knocked down and killed in the collision.

The man’s body has been removed to the city morgue, and investigations into the collision by gardaí are ongoing.

Last month another pedestrian was killed following a collision with a Luas. Patricia Quinn, a mother of five in her early 70s from Tallaght, was killed in the collision in mid-February.
