Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a 33-year-old man died in the early hours of Tuesday morning in a crash involving two cars on the Blanchardstown Road south in Dublin.

The incident happened shortly after half past midnight.

The man was taken to Connolly Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The occupants of the second car failed to remain at the scene.

The road was closed for a time for a technical examination but has now reopened.
