Gardaí in cross-Border hunt for bank robbers

PSNI join search for two men who fled from scene of bank robbery in Castleblaney

The men targeted Ulster Bank in Castleblayney at about 5pm yesterday.

Gardaí last night launched a manhunt after two men ram-raided a bank in Co Monaghan and fled with cash thought to be in the region of €100,000.

The men, who were not armed, drove a vehicle through a window of the Ulster Bank in Castleblayney. Once inside they snatched a cash box being loaded into an ATM before quickly fleeing the scene.

They then drove out of the town in a white van in the direction of Carrickmacross on the Dublin Road.

Gardaí confirmed the robbery last night and said they had requested assistance from the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
