Drogheda man accused of trying to murder man twice in same day

A 22-year-old Co Louth man will go on trial on Thursday charged with attempting to murder the same man twice on the same day in 2016.

Paul Crosby of Rathmullen Park in Drogheda is also accused of causing the man serious harm and of falsely imprisoning him.

The accused was arraigned before the Central Criminal Court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder Gerard Boyle on November 10th, 2016 at Knockcommon, Beauparc, Slane, Co Meath.

He also pleaded not guilty to falsely imprisoning and causing serious harm to Mr Boyle on the same occasion

He further pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Mr Boyle on the same date at Boyne Canal, Drogheda.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy swore in a jury of six women and six men to hear the trial, which will begin today and is expected to last more than a week.
