Gardaí have identified a man whose body parts were discovered at a recycling facility in Dublin in July.
The remains are those of Mark Burke (37) of Dún Laoghaire. His death is being treated as "suspicious".
Body parts were found at Thornton’s Recycling facility at Killeen Road, Ballyfermot, on July 31st .
Mr Burke (above) was reported missing sometime after the remains had been found and after appeals from gardaí.
Supt Paul Moran said, following DNA tests, the remains had been positively identified on Thursday .
“The Burke family have been notified and are requesting privacy. A Garda family liaison officer is liaising with the family,” said Supt Moran.
“To date this has been an intense investigation. Since July of this year we have had over 500 lines of inquiry generated, and in excess of 500 statements have been taken by gardaí.
“We know in July there may have been some sightings.”
He urged anyone who knew or had seen Mr Burke to contact gardaí.
The cause of death is not yet known. It was known Mr Burke had been in the Ballyfermot area immediately prior to his death.
