A Garda investigation has begun today into the circumstances

A Garda investigation has begun today into the circumstances

surrounding the discovery of a body in the Grand Canal in Dublin.

The body, said to be that of a middle-aged man, was seen by a passer- by on Orwell Road at 10.40 a.m. this morning.

Gardaí have preserved the scene and the sub-aqua team is in attendance.

The State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, has been called in.
