No summer let up as BidX1 anticipates poolside bids in 200-lot July auction

Fancy a summer bolthole? Why not go the whole hog and buy a job lot

It seems there’ll be no summer season let up for the folks at BidX1 as it continues apace with its brisk “pile ’em high, hammer them down” sales model. For its upcoming July sale – usually the sleepiest time of year in the residential market – there are no less than 220 properties up for grabs.

Fancy a summer bolthole? Why not go the whole hog and buy a job lot. There are a number of multi-unit schemes on offer, but a portfolio of 12 houses in Dunmore East, Waterford grabs the attention.

Located in Coral Grove, a gated development in the popular seaside town, all 12 properties come with vacant possession and a guide price of €2.125million (averaging about €177,000 per property).

Further south in Midleton, Co Cork a block of eight apartments in the quaintly named (less quaint looking) Cotswolds scheme is on offer guiding €900,000. Comprising five two-bed duplexes and three two-bed ground floor apartments, The Rookery block is within walking distance of Midleton, the popular foodie and tourism centre. Five of the apartments are tenanted, generating €47,400 per annum. The lot carries a guide price of €900,000.

In the capital there are a couple of attractive residential offerings including Lot 20 at 95 Lower Beechwood Avenue, one of buzzing Ranelagh’s most popular addresses. The redbrick terrace on offer is currently arranged in four self-contained units with gardens to the front and a yard to the rear. On offer with vacant possession, it’s guiding €825,000 and is likely to garner plenty of interest.

Meanwhile, in more pastoral surrounds on the outskirts of the city, Lot 53, Mardyke Cottage at the Strawberry Beds in Chapelizod is a detached four-bed cottage with views over the Liffey and 169 sq m (1,819 sq ft) of space, coming up with a reserve of €500,000.

The online auction will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 17th and 18th, and with so many lots on offer at this time of year it’s an indicator of how the online selling model suits buyers.

Jonathan Fenn, director at BidX1 says: “There’s no sign of the traditional slow-down for the summer months. The online platform means bidders can take part from anywhere in the world so being by the pool in Spain is no barrier to competing for a warehouse in Cork.”

Indeed.
