She's thus far best known as lead vocalist with quirky Danish alt.rockers The Unusual History of Ether (not quite a household name, but creators of the fine A Distant Age album). But this third solo release by Tramore-born, Copenhagen-based Rebecca Collins proves just as intriguing. Shades of PJ Harvey dominate Creepeth the Thrill and the brisk Home Fires, while it's difficult to shake the airy idiosyncrasies of Cathy Davey's voice on Vivienne or Portishead's Beth Gibbons on the evocative murmur of This Sensual Pursuit. Collins weaves her sultry way through the minimalist, mystical indie of The Sun and inserts dashes of wonky grunge riffs on Chiaroscuro and I Heart U, fashioning an odd little experimental pop collection that is deliciously moody in all the right places. rebeccacollins.net
