Somewhere out there – possibly close to several townlands we've never driven through – there are people who place Texas Chainsaw Massacre masks over their faces, flick a switch on whatever kind of audio equipment they have, and listen to Analogue Wave. This, as they say round our way, particularly after 3am – is some heavy, heavy shit. They've been around for a while, so Del Chaney and Andrew 'Gint' Sneyd aren't new converts to riddim, dub, reggae and electronic buzzes. You can tell this is the case because the songs on this debut are fully formed explorations. Sometimes the track titles tell all (Devils, Crawl, Mezkal, Narko Dub), but if that's the case then it's high-grade sonic confession and not some low-life gossip. Taking bits from Killing Joke, Lee Perry, Massive Attack and Nine Inch Nails, N.L.G.W.V. never strays from nicely weird and never outstays its welcome. analoguewave.bandcamp.com Download: Mezkal, Someone Must Fall, Narko Dub
