This inert adaptation of Collette’s novel follows the romance between a spoilt young git (Friend) and an aging courtesan (Pfeiffer) in the dying years of the belle époque.

The acting will just about do, but the lack of narrative oomph in the middle act kills the film. Minimal extras.
