SMALL PRINT:IF YOU think kids don't get enough of a look-in at arts festivals around the country, then you should head to Galway where Baboró,the International Arts Festival for Children, is taking place until Sunday.

Italian, German, Romanian, Spanish, French, English and Irish theatre companies, artists and authors are converging on the city for a series of theatre performances, readings, workshops, exhibitions, school visits and expeditions.

Along with old favourites such as Red Riding Hood, among the highlights are writing workshops for teenagers from acclaimed Young Adult fiction author Melvin Burgess, the Irish premiere of Nubes(Clouds) by Spanish dance company Aracaladanza, the Italian production L'elefantino(The Little Elephant), told with a clothes line and a basket of laundry transformed into puppets, and Ich Sehe Was…(I Spy . . .), a shadow-puppeteering illusionist show by Das Papiertheatre from Germany.

There are several free events, including readings from Irish children’s author Malachy Doyle, a visual art exhibition from English sculptor and school arts project coordinator Sadie Cramer, and a workshop for educators on how to explore issues such as human rights and diversity with children.
