A 29-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with the murder of his partner at the home they shared together in Co Cork.
Adam Corcoran was charged with the murder of mother of two, Deana Walsh (27) at their home at John Barry House, Connolly Street, Midleton on August 2nd.
Mr Corcoran, who had been arrested on Friday, was brought before Judge Philip O’Leary at a special sitting of Mallow District Court on Sunday and charged with the offence.
Det Garda Cormac Ó Bric gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court that when he charged Mr Corcoran with the offence at 2.18am, the accused replied: “No comment”.

Defence solicitor Eddie Burke said, given that defendants were precluded from applying for bail on a murder charge at District Court level, he would not be making any application for bail.
Insp Mary Skehan said gardaí were seeking a remand in custody to appear at Mallow District Court by video link on Tuesday.
Judge O’Leary granted the application, remanding Mr Corcoran to appear on August 6th
He also granted Mr Corcoran free legal aid as he is not currently employed and he also ordered that he receive any necessary medical or psychiatric treatment while in custody at Cork Prison.
