Parrot Bebop Drone takes off

The Bebop has a 14 megapixel camera built in, allowing it to capture images and record video in high definition

It seems as if everyone has a drone these days. Footage from quadcopters is popping up everywhere, and if you want to get in on the act the Parrot Bebop Drone is a good place to start. Faster, lighter and more powerful than its predecessor the AR Drone 2.0, the Bebop has a 14 megapixel camera built in, allowing it to capture images and record video in high definition. The fish-eye lens is splash- and dust-proof so you can send it into some challenging environments and it should emerge unscathed.

The quality of the footage is helped along by the technology Parrot has included so you get clear images.

There’s a pile of sensors in there too from the the accelerometer and gyroscope to the magnetometer and ultrasound sensor.

While you fly the drone keeps in touch with your smartphone or tablet through its own ad-hoc wifi connection. You can see what its camera sees, record video direct to your mobile device, or store it on the 8GB of the drone’s internal memory.

The Bebop has an ABS reinforced frame so you can pull off some daring moves, and if the worst happens and you lose the drone it will automatically return to you when you command it.
