Accounts for the main firm owned Irish rugby captain Brian O’Driscoll show that its cash assets increased to €1.459 million last year.

According to new accounts filed by ODM and Promotions Ltd, the firm’s accumulated profits increased by €291,409 from €2.54 million last year to €2.88 million.

The accounts also show that the firm’s cash pile increased by €326,186 from €1.13 million to €1.45 million in the 12 months to the end of August 31st last.

O’Driscoll established the firm in 2001, when he was 22, as part of his bid to capitalise on being the most marketable Irish player of the modern rugby era.

The returns show the Leinster player’s father, Frank is also a director of the firm.

Last year, O’Driscoll signed an extension to next June to his IRFU contract, believed to be worth about a basic €400,000 per annum – less than what an average Premier League footballer can expect to earn. However, O’Driscoll is able to top up his earnings with sponsorship deals and endorsements that include a deal with Gillette.
