IDA Ireland has announced plans to take on an additional 35 staff to target new companies around the globe that do not currently have a presence in Ireland.

The new staff will be based in a number of locations including Boston, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Austin, Mountain View, Irvine, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, Mumbai, Bangalore, Shanghai, Sydney and Dublin.

IDA said the additional employees are being hired to help identify new sector and business opportunities as part of a new Government initiative called ‘Winning Abroad’, which is to be led by Frank Scott-Lennon.

The three-year investment programme will aim to market Ireland as a location for inward investment to international companies across high-value manufacturing, R&D and global business services.

It is hoped the programme will help lead to an additional 10,000 jobs in Ireland in the coming years.

“IDA as an organisation has had several successful years of delivering FDI for Ireland. Now the organisation has been given the opportunity to build on that success with additional resources to win more employment and investment from global markets,” said the organisation’s chief executive Barry O’Leary.
