Kilkenny's Jonjo Farrell has been cleared of striking in the league match with Dublin last month. In a controversial decision during the first half of the match Cork referee Colm Lyons showed Farrell a straight red card.

Asked about it afterwards, Kilkenny manager Brian Cody expressed bafflement about the decision.

“I’ll let ye decide on that lads. I won’t talk about referees. Obviously it had a huge bearing on the game - there was nobody hurt. That’s all I know. I don’t know why he was sent off. The referee made a decision and that was it.”

Having had a one-match ban proposed by the Central Competitions Control Committee, the player opted for a hearing and the GAA's Central Hearings Committee ruled that the infraction had been unproven and directed that "disciplinary action be at an end".
