Colfer’s goal helps Kingdom Gaels claim London senior football title

Holders Tir Chonaill Gaels pipped by a point at Ruislip

Kingdom Kerry Gaels 1-7 Tir Chonaill Gaels 0-9

Kingdom Kerry Gaels lifted their first London SFC title since 2004 in front of a watching Mick O'Connell in Ruislip.

The Kerry legend was a notable spectator as were GAA President Liam O'Neill and Paul Galvin. But the quality of the fare was affected by a strong wind which Kingdom failed to capitalise on throughout the first half.

The side with the Kerry roots led by just 0-5 to 0-4 at the interval. But London county panellist Lloyd Colfer goaled five minutes after the restart and all of a sudden the conditions no longer appeared to be a deciding factor.

Buoyed by that score, Colfer quickly added a point which saw Kingdom lead by four.
