No one doubts it is the Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel at Doonbeg that is bringing US president Donald Trump back to Ireland.
It has attracted some of golf’s biggest stars to Trump’s golf course in Co Clare and the sold-out event promises spectacular golf – with the chance the president will present the trophy to the winner on Sunday.
But before that, on his overnight stay in Ireland he has some house calls to make in Dublin, all conveniently located in Phoenix Park.
On Saturday he will visit his ambassador Edward Walsh; drop in on President Catherine Connolly in Áras an Uachtaráin and meet Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Farmleigh, the official State guest house.
