Screen-free zones

Sir, – Is it time to consider having screen-free zones? I, for one, find it particularly disconcerting to sit on the Dart each morning surrounded by people staring at phones, often in a state of anxiety and hyper-vigilance. It really is a terrible way to start each day.

Obsessional screen-scrolling has unfortunately become what seems to be the norm, but really there is absolutely nothing “normal” about it!

As human beings we should be able to sit still, enjoy the simple pleasures around us, and perhaps even interact with the people beside us.

I, for one, think it is time to introduce screen-free zones for those who wish to relax and simply “be”. Perhaps others might feel the same way?

A screen-free zone on the Dart would really allow a much more mindful and pleasant journey. – Yours, etc,
