Electric vehicles and charging

A chara, – As an electrical vehicle (EV) owner who doesn't have an EV charger at home, I was surprised to read the conclusions of the recent Trinity College Dublin and Queen's University Belfast report ("Electric vehicle grants benefit wealthy, study finds", News, March 4th).

The report ignores the significant number of people that are dependent on the public charging network. That includes all the residential areas with on street parking only and anyone living in an apartment.

The report’s more definite conclusion should be that there are more private driveways in south Dublin.

A report on what can be done to address the rapidly increasing congestion on the public charging network or how Government and local authorities plan to resolve home charging for those without a driveway would be more useful. – Is mise,
