Attorney General – custom and practice

Sir, – Further to "Attorney General should not maintain a private legal practice", Alan Shatter, Opinion & Analysis, October 6th), if it's deemed perfectly acceptable for an Attorney General to maintain a private legal practice while in office, then the same must be said for a Minister for Housing building up a large portfolio of rental properties, a Minister for Transport operating a bus company, a Minister for Tourism owning a chain of hotels, and a Tánaiste heading up a public relations consultancy. – Yours, etc,

R BLACKBURN,

Naul,

Co Dublin.
