EXTRA SECURITY is to be provided at a number of Ticketmaster outlets tomorrow morning to deal with the expected long queues of people when tickets for U2’s concerts in Croke Park go on sale at 8am.

Additional staff will man Ticketmaster telephone lines, although those trying to book tickets through the internet may face delays in getting through.

U2 will play Croke Park on Friday, July 24th, and Saturday July 25th. Tickets are priced from €33.60 to €131.50 for premium-level seats in the Hogan and Cusack Stands.

Tickets are limited to six per person/transaction, but fans who want to avoid the crush can book in advance, but only if they pay a $50 (€37.50) annual subscription to U2.com

The band was severely criticised in the previous tour as many fans who had signed up for a subscription did not get to pre-buy tickets.

With a full capacity of 82,000 for both nights, the two concerts are expected to be worth about €30 million to Dublin, based on similar events in the past which often have attracted fans from abroad.

U2 has already sold 312,000 tickets for its 360° Tour. A second show was added in Gothenburg after the first one sold out in 30 minutes.

Another show was also added at the Amsterdam ArenA after the first sold out within 15 minutes and a quick sell-out at Milan’s San Siro has also resulted in a second concert being scheduled.
