Two Irish fashion designers, Simone Rocha and JW Anderson, have won New Generation catwalk sponsorship awards from the British Fashion Council. The only two to win the award, it will enable them to host shows at London Fashion Week in February 2013.
“This means so much to me,” said Rocha who is now based in London.
“It’s an opportunity to have an international platform and to show that you can be part of an international standard.”
To qualify for sponsorship, designers must prove their originality, excellence and openness to learning how to take first steps in business, according to Sarah Mower council ambassador and chair of the selection committee. Previous alumni have included Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Saunders and Mary Katrantzou.
