The 16-year-old driver of the stolen car which crashed into a roundabout near Swords, Co Dublin, on Tuesday night has been arrested in Dublin. The young man was arrested in the city centre yesterday morning and taken to Mountjoy Garda station where he was last night being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The two others occupants of the car - aged 15 and 27 - are still being sought. The Nissan Micra in which they were travelling was stolen in Drogheda on Tuesday and crashed into the Seatown Roundabout on the M1 at about 11 p.m. All three occupants were brought to Beaumont Hospital and they left the following morning.
Meanwhile, the two survivors of last weekend's crash in Summerhill, Dublin, in which taxi-driver, Mr Robert McGowan (30) was killed, remain in custody and are due to appear before the Children's Court on Monday.
The funeral of Mr McGowan took place yesterday. The funeral of Eddie Gavin (16), a passenger in the stolen car who died in St James' Hospital on Tuesday evening, takes place today.
