Teenager recovers after city stabbing

A TEENAGER is recovering in the Mater hospital after he was stabbed in a Dublin park

A TEENAGER is recovering in the Mater hospital after he was stabbed in a Dublin park. The attack took place on Wednesday night in Fairview.

The injured 17-year-old got into a row with a group of young men at a children’s playground in the park at about 9pm.

He was found injured by gardaí patrolling outside a nearby venue hosting a Junior Certificate results party.

Gardaí called for an ambulance and the boy, who is from Dublin’s north inner city, was taken to the Mater hospital.

He underwent surgery and was recovering at the hospital last night.

His injuries are not life-threatening and it is believed he will make a full recovery.

Gardaí from Clontarf have interviewed the boy. However, the identity of his attackers remains unclear.

The scene of the assault was sealed off yesterday and a full technical examination was carried out. Anyone with information is asked to contact Clontarf Garda station on (01) 666 4800.
