Two teenage boys were killed in the early hours of this morning when the car they were in went out of control and hit a ditch in Co Cork.

There were no other vechicles involved the crash that left the 17-year-old driver and his 16-year-old passenger dead.

The crash happened at 2.45am in Cahermore, Beara, near Castletownbere. The boys bodies were taken to Castletownbere Hospital after the crash.

In Co Clare, gardai have named the 35-year-old man who was killed in a crash in Ardnacrusha yesterday. Shane Browne of Ballycannon Heights, Meelick Co Clare died when the truck he was driving was in collision with an SUV.

A 38-year-old who was a passenger in the truck is in a serious condition in hospital.

So far this year 317 people have died on the State's roads, 35 in October alone.
