A host of Irish stars have come together to produce a new Christmas album in aid of mental health charity Aware.

A Murray Christmas, produced by RTÉ radio’s The John Murray Show, features an award-winning collaboration between Sinéad O’Connor, Danny O’Reilly of The Coronas, and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

The album – which includes both songs and “inspirational readings” – was launched yesterday morning by former RTÉ news anchor Anne Doyle on a special John Murray Show live from Eason bookshop in Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin.

O’Connor, who has struggled with depression and bipolar disorder, said last night that Christmas could be a “particularly difficult” time for people – “even those who may not be having a difficult time generally”.

The first single from the album will be released on December 1st and sees O’Connor and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra team up with O’Reilly to perform When a Child is Born.
