The funeral is to take place tomorrow of the mother of actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Geraldine (Geri) Meyers-O'Keeffe, who died in the Mercy Hospital in Cork early on Tuesday following a short illness.
Ms Meyers-O'Keeffe often spoke of her exceptional pride in her son, who she said always remembered to send flowers or phone her when he was away to let her know he was thinking of her.
She is survived by her partner, John O'Neill, her sons Jonathan, Alan, Jamie and Paul and daughter Maria.
Her removal will take place today at 6pm from Barry Brothers funeral home in Glanmire to St Joseph's Church, Springhill. She will be buried at St Catherine's Cemetery, Kilcully, following Mass at 11am tomorrow.
Rhys Meyers (30) was born in Dublin but raised in Cork. He is working on a second series of the TV series The Tudors, in which he plays Henry VIII.
Last Sunday, he was charged with being drunk and disorderly and with a breach of the peace after he was refused permission to board a British Midland aircraft at Dublin Airport. He is to appear before Dublin District Court court next month.
