The deaths of three men in separate road crashes over the weekend brings to 98 the number of people killed on the Republic’s roads to date this year.
On Monday, a 22-year-old man died after the car he was driving hit a wall at Kilmullen, Portarlington, Co Laois at about 3.50am.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Portlaoise Garda station or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111.
On Saturday, a man in his 20s was killed in a single-vehicle incident when his car crashed at Charlestown, Co Mayo at 3pm.

His body was removed to Mayo University Hospital. Gardaí appealed for witnesses to contact Claremorris Garda station.
Earlier, a motorcyclist in his 30s died in a collision with a car at Clooncahir, Mohill, Co Leitrim. The crash occurred at 11.20am and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His death brings to 12 the number of motorcyclists killed on the Republic’s roads this year.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
