Harold's Cross has reopened after a suspect object was found by a member of the public, but later declared safe. The closure of the area has caused major traffic disruptions for Dublin commuters.
There was no viable device found by the army and the area was made safe at 4.45pm, a Defence forces spokesman said. The army bomb disposal team arrived at the scene at about 4.15pm after a member of the public saw a suspect device at a bus stop.
The Defence forces cordoned the area off at about 4.15pm for public safety and declared the area safe at 4.45pm.
There were major delays in Rathmines Rd, Leinster Road and Harold's Cross as a result. Dublin Bus services were also delayed as a result.
