Two hand guns and ammunition are being examined by the Garda technical bureau after their discovery in a Drogheda, Co Louth house yesterday.
According to a spokeswoman the arms were found during a planned operation after "confidential information" was received by Drogheda gardaí.
The arms - two pistols and magazines - were found in the Yellowbatter area of the town. The guns were loaded when found, the spokeswoman added.
