Gardai appeal for witnesses to assault

Gardaí from the Mountjoy barracks in Dublin are investigating a serious assault that took place between 1 am and 5.30 am this morning in Dublin.

As a result of the assault, which happened at Eccles Place off Dorset St, a 21-year-old man was Mater Hospital in Phibsboro, where he remains in an unconscious state.

The victim, who has been identified, is described as 5’8" with short, red hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue donkey jacket and a multi-coloured scarf.

It is believed the victim was walking to his accommodation in the area when he was attacked.
