Four held after Belfast stabbing

Four people have been arrested in north Belfast in connection with a suspected murder attempt last night.

Four people have been arrested in north Belfast in connection with a suspected murder attempt last night.

A 19-year-old man was stabbed at  10pm on Cliftonville Avenue near the junction with Brookvale Avenue.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two men, aged 19 and 21, and two women aged 18 and 19, were arrested at a nearby residence a short time later.

Police stressed the attack was not of a sectarian nature but they are treating it as an attempted murder.

They are keen to speak to a woman who assisted the injured man at the scene and have asked the public to contact them if they have any information.
