A man has been remanded in custody following the seizure of more than two kilos of cocaine in Dublin Airport last weekend.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of €143,000, were discovered when officers from Revenue's Customs Service searched the baggage of a 22-year-old Irish man who had arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday.

The drugs were found in two plastic sleeves, concealed in the lining of a briefcase.

The man was arrested and brought to Ballymun Garda station.

He appeared in Dublin District Court on Monday where he was remanded in custody to appear in Cloverhill Court on July 15th.
