Tens of thousands of euro of equipment thought stolen during Cork break-in

As much as tens of thousands of euro worth of TVs and other electrical equipment is thought to have been stolen overnight from a Harvey Norman branch in Cork.

Gardaí have begun an investigation after the break-in at the high-profile retailer.

The gang broke into the Harvey Norman store at the Kinsale Road in Ballycurreen on the southside of the city sometime between 11.30pm last night and 2.30am this morning.

Gardaí are working with store management to compile a list of precisely how much equipment was stolen. It's expected to be a substantial amount, worth in the region of tens of thousands of euro.

Gardaí in Togher have appealed to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the Kinsale Road area in the early hours of this morning to contact them on 021-4947120.

They are investigating whether the break-in may be linked to a similar burglary at Harvey Norman in Little island last October, when €60,000 worth of TVs were stolen.
